nice price deal !!! patiently waiting for the year of the dragon to commence, nick chacona & anthony mansfield are finally back with a 3 track ep of epically mental proportions! hector works numero uno duo take on a true journey to house music neverland with the peter vs pan ep. almost two and half years in the making, the boys reveal their many facets of cosmic, sleaze disco and acid wonk. one the a side, pan vs peter is a tech funk heavy slow house burner, that shimmers with dubbed out guitar, thumps with low end and grooves the like the funk brothers at opium afterhours. think vacum boogie meets silver connection and you are almost there. starting off the b-side is the eps title track peter vs pan and its right out the gate ncam drunkhouse maddness. a timeless disco house groove with a bassline so big that we were certain that it was gonna blow out the lathe and never actually get cut (thankfully mastering made sure that didnt happen :). and to round things out, the boys get hard on the acid house tip with terrys nightmare, an ode to the grouchiest bartender at peter lugers steakhouse in brooklyn ny.

bristol hub soul motive scored a massive coup in enlisting punch drunk boss peverelist to remix >stableface<, one of the standout tracks from clouds of moments, the 2010 debut set from lithuanian experimental dubstepper eleven tigers. that they choose to complement it with two further remixes is tantamount to treating us, with both dark sky and macc on board to further re-contextualise the cracked atmospherics. in the hands of dark sky, >stableface< is twisted into a brooding dark side steppah with subtle hints of jungle pressure pervading the lower reaches, the 50 weapons trio playfully teasing with the vocal before dropping in a bassline that can only be described as rude. on the flip, macc showcases his enviable drumming skills with a heavily cinematic roller of a remix dominated by those rumbling, live rhythms

nice price deal !!! hailing from perth, australia, this talented and prolific producer is no stranger to the music scene. following his first taste of an akai sampler to drop film samples on the intros of songs in his metal band, the dirty whittler, rregula eventually found himself drawn into the world of drum and bass and formed one half of bad robot in 2003, a monster collaboration with future technique and viper superstar, phetsta. with a number of releases on subsonik sound, black sun empire, and drumsound & bassline smiths popular technique recordings as bad robot, followed by solo projects on vampire records, dsci4, citrus recordings, icarus audio, climate recordings, and too many others to name, rregula has been scaling new heights with his output in the past year. having just released an album project in 2011 on trust in music entitled echoes from the future with dementia and collaborations from the likes of smooth, trei and optiv, one might think of calling it a year.. rregula is not one of those people. now set to unleash his highly anticipated debut lp on climate recordings, rregula presents: the barramundi experiment.an album extraordinaire, with over 30 tunes of deep and dirty rolling drum and bass, halftime and drumstep. the vinyl ep features 4 groundbreaking tracks of the album. the a-side holds 2 superb drum n bass tracks for the dancefloor, while on the flip you will find 2 massive bass tracks that will do equal damage on the dancefloor! the vinyl ep also includes the full doublepack cd in the sleeve!

cassio ware digging back into the past for this new cut on on dope wax. as usual, kenny dope is the man in the mix, with the classic vocal from chip-es >like this< pitted against the bassline from esgs classic, >moody<, and some quality synth lines on an old school gem of a track for the house crowds to drool over. on the flip, that superb bassline is left to be star attraction along side those great synths on a bumping house instrumental.

with their feet firmly positioned on dutch soil, the heads and hearts of dam swindle are nonetheless rooted deep into the soul of the motor city, and this ep of finely crafted grooves on jimmy posters and huxleys fledgling saints & sonnets imprint is as brilliant a reflection of their obsession as you could expect. >the wrap around< combines a killer vocal hook with a silky line, but its the bassline that marks it out, coming in with a thudding bassline that twists itself into all manner of unfiltered goodness at the halfway point. >pain tomorrow< meanwhile prefers to let its skipping percussion do the talking with a bumping chord led groove that would put mcde to shame. the ep is rounded off with a killer remix of the title track from deleusions of grandeurs pattern select, turning in a sparse reworking which transforms the light original into a throbbing piece of basement house.

although it has found emotional music from france, russia and south africa over the years, for this release it returns to the birthplace of deep house, chicago, to focus on up and coming producer matthew wieck. opening the ep with the wiry tones and lush pads of >flying feeling< whichs take you up into the stratosphere with its floaty vibe, its complimented by >hydroacoustics<, which utilises an aquatic arpeggio lead and warm, oozing pad underneath, held together with crips, charged percussive work. on the flipside >worlds beyond< demonstrates wiecks darker side, with an acid bassline riffing against cavernous piano in what sounds like a more introverted take on larry heard. altered moods boss malcolm moore finishes off the ep with >cleared direct<, an 808 jam held together with foggy chords and disembodied radio transmissions - the perfect compliment to wiecks fine material.
